Caine's Arcade

You have probably heard about this kid from Youtube. You probably heard about this kid on Facebook. You probably learned about this kid on every social network and he is Caine, the kid who used pieces of cardboard to make an arcade. Why would people think he only got famous because of Facebook? It's true social networking is the best way of socializing these days and becoming famous but he has a good brain. I will talk about how Caine is a genius and how social networking can change a life.

Caine is only a 9-year old boy who turned his dad's shop into a massive cardboard arcade. With a few months of serious hard work, he manages to make everything in an average arcade into his own. From security systems to check if people cheated, all the way to making a claw machine, Caine has figured out how arcades work and turned them into his own way without a lot of money. He makes a great deal for people which is $1 for two turns but $2 for a fun pass which allows 500 turns. Last, he figured out how to make tickets come out like regular ones. He would go in the box of the game and put the tickets out slowly like a real arcade machine.

Many of you have Facebook. If you don't you probably have Twitter or an account on some other social network. This made him famous. When his first customer came in, the customer knew he was amazing so he decided to make a group on Facebook and tell the world about Caine's Arcade. The next day, thousands of people came to his arcade just because they saw it on Facebook. How cool is that? Today, most of the world's population have Facebook or any other social network. This improves lives, friends, and family. Just because of one post on Facebook, Caine became famous. But people think it's only because of Facebook.

Caine has the brain of a professional engineer. He can figure out how to do everything in a normal arcade with cardboard and home supplies. You should see how much perseverance this kid has. He waited days, weeks, maybe even months for a customer. But he still didn't give up waiting for customers to play. His perseverance made him famous which will be good for him in the future when he makes a business or some other job that will need perseverance. Who does that? Who waits for a horribly long amount of time just for an arcade? Most people can't do that. Facebook just gave him a boost up to success.

Now you may see how smart this kid is. A regular kid who just wanted to make an arcade becomes famous because of his smart brain, perseverance, and social networking. I taught you about his brain, Facebook, and arguments. People who think he's just as fraud and that customer made him famous are stupid. Can you do the same thing as him? Do you have that perseverance and brain to make an arcade and wait for customers all day long? What I'm trying to prove is that this kid is really smart. When he grows older I'm almost sure that he will be very successful. Facebook can change lives, but it is not as powerful as your own ideas and perseverance.

  1. Wow! A different topic than Kony. By the way, I didn't know anything about Caine's Arcade but by reading you essay, you sure did get me interested in watching that video. It was a very detailed and thoughtful essay. Good job!

  2. I agree with Wonwoo. Cleverly written, and you make some interesting points. For me, the film does a wonderful job of showing how kids think. Kids are creative and brave, and they don't give up as easily as adults do when they are really in love with an idea. I think the film is a "wake up call" for adults who need to remember what it's like to be a kid with a passionate dream. I agree with you about Caine. He will probably grow up and be very very successful.

I might suggest a stronger intro with a clearer thesis, and a less abrasive conclusion. Does anyone think Caine is stupid? Maybe. But I think they are so few that it isn't worth mentioning.

All in all - beautiful post!
